Beta Particle 01
Beta Particle 01 : (Nucl Phys; Symb: /3) A high-speed, light-weight, elementary particle ejected by a radioactive nucleus during decay. The particle has a single positive or negative electron charge and a mass equal to 1/1837 of a proton. A positively charged beta particle is called a positron; a negatively charged one is an electron (sometimes called a negatron). Beta radiation is easily stopped by a thin sheet of metal, but without protection can cause skin burns
