Branch 01 : (Fire Pr; Brit) (1) A line of hose from a breeching connection or pump. (2) a. A tapered fitting used between the delivery coupling and the nozzle to increase the velocity of the water and provide a solid jet. b. Diffuser branch: A branch yielding a spray or jet of variable size and serving as a shut-off. c. Double revolving branch: A collecting breeching connected to a casting that revolves on ball bearings and carries two diametrically opposed branches. Rotation is provided by the reaction force of water passing through two small jets. d. Foam-making branch: A branch used to generate mechanical foam. e. Hand-controlled branch: A branch that delivers a jet and spray simultaneously, each being control-led separately. f. Radial branch: A special type of branch and holder, requiring only one branch man to operate, for use with jets up to 2 in. diameter. The elevation of the nozzle is controlled by a small winch gear. g. Stream form branch: A short branch with a central tube and guide vanes that reduce turbulence in the flowing water
