Brooke Formula


Brooke Formula : (Med) A standard formula for calculating the quantity of fluids to be administered to a burn victim for the first 24 hours after injury: derived by modifying Cope's 75 cc of plasma and 75 cc of saline on the assumption of an average body weight of 75 kg. Originally 1 cc plasma and 1 cc of saline per kilogram per % of burn, later modified to one-half cc plasma and one cc saline solution per kilogram per % of burn. See: Blood Extender
