Bueb

Bueb : A process for removing cyanogen from coal gas by scrubbing with a concentrated aqueous solution of ferrous sulfate. A complex sequence of reactions occurs, involving the ammonia and hydrogen sulfide which are always present in coal gas; the final product is a blue mud containing ammonium ferrocyanide. This mud is boiled with lime, thereby expelling the ammonia, and several further steps result in the formation of saleable sodium or potassium ferocyanide
