Buffalo

Buffalo : The Buffalo (CC-115) is the twin engine short take off and landing (STOL) airplane used by 442 Squadron in Comox. Like the Labrador, the Buffalo is painted in a high visibility yellow with red trim paint scheme. Although it has been retired by other units across Canada, its unparalleled maneuverability and slow flying speed make it ideally suited for mountain flying operations. It has a large ramp which enables the SAR Techs to parachute or to drop large equipment loads. 442 Squadron has six Buffalo. They are scheduled for replacement by Hercules transports once the Labradors have been replaced. The Buffalo crew consists of two Pilots, one Navigator, one Flight Engineer and two Search and Rescue Technicians. (Marine SAR)
