Bulkhead 04 : (1) The exterior walls of a store building that support show windows; (2) a structure above the roof of a building, enclosing elevator machinery, tanks, stairs, or the like, or the part of a shaft extending above the roof; (3) a retaining structure intended to withstand lateral pressure; or (4) a vertical structural wall, usually of stone, timber, metal, concrete, or synthetic material, constructed along, and generally parallel to, the shoreline to retain earth as an extension of the upland, and often to provide suitable water depth at the waterside face
