Bioconcentration 5

Bioconcentration 5 : Bioconcentration describes the process by which a chemical can build up in a living organism to levels higher than those found in the surrounding environment. For example, a fish will have a higher concentration of a chemical in its body than is present in the water it swims in. Bioconcentration refers to the uptake of the chemical from water only - not all sources of exposure to the chemical. See also: Bioaccumulation
