Carbon Tetrachloride 2

Carbon Tetrachloride 2 :

(Chem) A colorless, toxic, dense liquid with a sweetish odor, CC14, bp 76oC, used in drycleaning, in older types of fire extinguishers, and in Halon-type refrigerants. CC14 concentrations by volume of 4. 8 to 6. 3% are lethal, and 50 ppm is the maximum allowable concentration for an 8-hour period. In addition to its own toxicity, it forms phosgene gas upon. oxidation in fires. Also called: Carbon Tet. See: Halon. Note: Carbon Tetrachloride, Assigned The Value Of 100, Is used as an evaporation rate standard. Cf: Ethyl Ether, which is also used as an evaporation standard
