Caribbean Employers' Confederation (CEC)


Caribbean Employers' Confederation (CEC) : A Caribbean regional grouping of employers' organizations. Established in 1960, it "is dedicated to the development and promotion of good industrial relations practices at the enterprise and macro-level" and "is committed towards achieving productivity and prosperity for member countries and the region as a whole". Presently located in Trinidad and Tobago, its objectives cover: (a) promoting "the interests of employers in the Caribbean, in all matters affecting their relations with their workers and other social partners"; (b) Providing for "consultation between employers' organizations"; (c) Cooperating with or becoming a member of "any employers' Organization whose objectives are consistent with" its own; and (d) The compiling of data relevant to labour-management relations. The founding members of the CEC are the: (a) Antigua Employers' Federation; (b) Barbados Employers' Confederation; (c) Belize (British Honduras) Employers' Association; (d) Jamaica Employers' Federation; (e) St. Lucia Employers' Federation and the (f) Employers' Consultative Association of Trinidad and Tobago. Other members are the (a) Bahamas Employers' Confederation; (b) Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry; (c) Bermuda Employers' Council; (d) Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce; (e) Consultative Association of Guyanese Industry Ltd.; (f) Dominica Employers' Federation; (g) Grenada Employers' Federation; (h) St. Vincent Employers' Federation; (i) Suriname Trade and Industry Association and (j) Confederation General des Petite et Moyennes Enterprises (CGPME), Martinique. The CEC, in carrying out its work, collaborates with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization of Employers (10E), CARICOM and the Caribbean Congress of Labour (CCL)
