Castellation

Castellation :

A unit of angle measure equal to 1/6 turn or 60o, used in mechanical engineering. A castellated nut is a locknut having a raised rim with a number of equally spaced slots, usually 6. A cotter pin fits into one of the slots and into a hole bored in the bolt, holding the nut in place with a precise degree of torque, or "tightness". To turn the nut one castellation is to turn it from one slot to the next, that is, by 1/6 turn
