Coast 2 : (n.) (1) The shore of a sea or ocean. Syn: Sea-Coast, Seacoast, Seashore. Four Types: (1) Litoral, Littoral, Littoral Zone, Sands: The region of the shore of a lake or sea or ocean. (2) Landfall: The seacoast first sighted on a voyage (or flight over water). (3) Seaboard, Seaside: The shore of a sea or ocean regarded as a resort. (4) Tideland: Land near the sea that is overflowed by the tide. Type of: Shore: The land along the edge of a body of water. (v.) (1) Move effortlessly; by force of gravity. Types: Freewheel: Coast in a vehicle using the freewheel. Type of: Glide: Move smoothly and effortlessly. (n.) (2-a) The act of moving smoothly along a surface while remaining in contact with it. Syn: Glide, Slide. Types: (1) Sideslip, Skid, Slip: An unexpected slide. (2) Snowboarding: The act of sliding down a snow-covered slope while standing on a snowboard. Type of: Motion, Move, Movement: The act of changing location from one place to another. (2-b) A slope down which sleds may coast. Type of: Incline, Side, Slope: An elevated geological formation.
