Combustible 01

Combustible 01 : (1) (Comb) Capable of burning, generally in air under normal conditions of ambient tem?perature and pressure, unless otherwise specified. (2) (Fire Pr) Any material or object that can burn more or less readily under ordinary, everyday conditions. Ant: noncombustible. Note: Combustible is a relative term. Wood, for example, is classified as combustible, but waterlogged wood is markedly less combustible than dry wood. Similarly, a massive wooden timber is less combustible than wood shavings. Most substances will burn given suitable conditions, and, in certain instances, without oxygen. Iron, copper, or zinc, for example, will burn in chlorine. Calcium will "burn" in a nitrogen atmosphere, and zirconium dust in carbon dioxide. Oxides such as sodium nitrate and potassium chlorate generate. oxygen for combustion
