Combustible Dust 7

Combustible Dust 7 : Combustible dusts are classified into two groups. Group (a) are dusts which ignited and propagated flame in the test apparatus and Group (b) arc dusts which did not propagate flame in the test apparatus. Previously dusts were classified in three classes, Class I, 11 and III. As a rough guide Class I dusts may now be taken as Group (a) and Class II and III dusts may be regarded as Group (b). Group (a) dusts should be regarded as explosible and precautions taken. Group (b) dusts are non-explosible but they may present a fire risk. Group (a) dusts include, sugar, starch, cocoa, grain, maize, tea, cornflour, magnesium and aluminium. Group (b) dusts include organic ammonia compounds, hone meal, cotton seed, polyvinylidene chloride and urea. See also: Explisobility Tests
