Committed Dose Equivalent 4 : Radiation and Radiological Disasters. The dose equivalent to organs or tissues that will be received by an individual during the 50-year period following the intake of radioactive material. It does not include contributions from radiation sources external to the body. Committed dose equivalent is expressed in units of rems or sieverts.
