Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 1
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 1 : A team of local citizens, with or without an organizational affiliation, trained in a range of basic emergency response skills and techniques to assist their community in times of disaster or other emergency. CERT training is local to national standards that are available from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Regional and local varietal names may apply, such as NEST, NEAT, NERT, DERT, sometimes with different training standards. Intermediate and advanced CERT training has been initiated. CERT is one of the Citizen Corps programs designated to help fulfill a national call for community service
