Confined Space 14 : An enclosed or partially enclosed space that: (a) is not designed primarily as a workplace; and (b) has a restricted means of entry and exit; and (c) is, or is likely to be, entered by a person to work; and (d) is, or is intended to be, at atmospheric pressure while anyone is in the space; and (e) contains, or is likely to contain, any of the following - (i) an atmosphere that has potentially harmful levels of a contaminant; (ii) an atmosphere that does not have a safe oxygen level; (iii) anything that could cause engulfment. Example- (1) Storage tanks, tank cars, process vessels, pressure vessels, boilers, silos and other tank-like compartments. (2) Pits and degreasers. (3) Pipes, sewers, sewer pump stations including wet or dry wells, shafts and ducts. (4) Shipboard spaces entered through small hatchways or access points, cargo tanks, cellular double bottom tanks, duct keels, ballast or oil tanks and void spaces. Confined Space (Tas): Means an enclosed or partially enclosed space which: (a) is not intended to be used as a regular workplace; and (b) has restricted means of entry or exit; and (c) is at atmospheric pressure during occupancy; and (d) may - (i) have atmospheric contaminants or an unsafe oxygen level, or both; or (ii) cause entrapment or engulfment
