Confined Space 21


Confined Space 21 : Fully or partially enclosed space that is not designed or constructed for continuous human occupancy, and in which atmospheric hazards may occur. These include a build-up of hazardous gases or dust, or lack of oxygen, and could result in an immediate life-threatening hazard such as suffocation, fire or explosion. Examples of confined spaces include storage tanks, compartments of ships, process vessels, pits, vats, boilers and sewers. Ontario Regulation 632/05 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act states defines Confined Space as: A fully or partially enclosed space, (a) that is not designed and constructed for continuous human occupancy, and (b) in which atmospheric hazards may occur because of its construction, location or contents, or because of work that is done in it
