Conflagration 01 : (Fire Pr; For Serv) A fire of large extent, with a moving front, involving a number of buildings on more than one block in an urban area, or a class E forest fire involving structures. In addition to extent, the fire must cross a natural or man-made barrier, such as a street, road, or waterway to qualify as a conflagration. See: Fire Storm; Fire Classes. Cf: Group Fire Fire. Note: In urban conflagrations the fire spreads from building to building, and in a forest fire, from tree to tree. Spread is accelerated by wind. In extreme cases, high winds can carry burning brands a mile or more ahead of a fire front, often igniting spot fires
