Blade 1
Blade 1 : (1) (Techn) A cutting edge. (2) (Techn) A fan or compressor vane. (3) (Civ Eng) A broad, usually curved plate attached to earth-moving equipment, used to clear land; push, spread, and smooth soil; and for other similar purposes. Note: Blades are often modified for special jobs. A U-blade, for ex-ample, has an extension on each side protruding forward at an obtuse angle to enable it to handle a larger volume than a regular blade. A landfill blade is a U-blade with an extension on top that further increases the volume that can be pushed and protects the operator from flying debris
