Continental Tectonics

Continental Tectonics : A term used to include the large-scale motions, interactions and deformation of the continental lithosphere. It is often used in contrast to plate tectonics. Whereas deforming zones in the oceanic plates are usually narrow and confined, on continents they are often spread over wide areas, requiring a different approach to their description and analysis.
