BLEVE 15 : Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion. An explosion caused by the nearly instantaneous vaporization of a liquid, confined under greater-than-atmospheric pressure at a temperature significantly above its normal atmospheric boiling point released as a result of containment vessel failure.
