Counterair
Counterair : A US Air Force term for air operations conducted to attain and maintain a desired degree of air superiority by the destruction or neutralization or enemy forces. Both air offensive and air defensive actions are involved. The former range throughout enemy territory and are generally conducted a the initiative of friendly forces. The latter are conducted near or over friendly territory and are generally reactive to the initiative of the enemy air forces
