Decibel (dB) 06 : A unit used to express sound-power level (LW) and sound-pressure level (LP). Sound power is the total acoustic output of a sound source in watts (W). By definition, sound-power level, in decibels, is: LW = 10 log W/W0, where W is the sound power of the source and W0 is the reference sound power of 10-12. Because the decibel is also used to describe other physical quantities, such as electrical current and electrical voltage, the correct reference quantity must be specified
