Declassification
Declassification : (a) The authorized change in the status of classified information to unclassified information. (b) The determination that classified information no longer requires, in the interest of national security, any degree of protection against unauthorized disclosure, together with removal or cancellation of the classification designation, as follows: (1) Information is a determination by appropriate authority in accordance with approved classification policy that information is no longer classified; or (2) Documents or Material is a determination by appropriate authority in accordance with approved classification guidance that a classified document or material no longer contains classified information. A determination by appropriate authority that information no longer requires classification protection or that a previously classified document or material is no longer classified
