Declustering (of earthquake catalogs)

Declustering (of earthquake catalogs) : the procedure for removing dependent earthquakes such as foreshocks and aftershocks. A declustered earthquake catalog contains only mainshocks and isolated earthquakes. The largest shock in each earthquake sequence is considered as the mainshock and remains in the catalog.
