Decontamination Factor 2 : The ratio of the activity per unit area (or per unit mass or volume) before a particular decontamination technique is applied to the activity per unit area (or per unit mass or volume) after application of the technique. This ratio may be specified for a particular radionuclide or for gross activity. The background activity may be first deducted from the activity per unit area both before and after a particular decontamination technique is applied
