Departmental Application
Departmental Application : An application for approval processed via the 'major change' stream, if there is a significant change to the composition of the pesticides or to the risk assessment, e.g. experimental approval for a new active substance never previously approved in the UK; major changes to the conditions of approval (a new field of use such as professional to home garden or a major new crop group). It is called a Departmental as it has to be examined by officials from all regulatory departments (ministries) which have an interest in pesticide approvals. (See: 'IDS' below)
