Detector, Fire, Laser : A form of fire detector which responds to the effect of fire upon a laser beam. (BS 4422(4)) Smoke and hot gases cause the laser beam to waver as it falls on a photoelectric cell and then to deviate completely. Thus indication of fire is given by the variable output from the cell closely followed by a chop in the mean output
