Detector, Fire, Radiation, UltraViolet : A radiation fire detector which responds to ultraviolet radiation. (BS 4422(4)). Aline type operates on the detection of the reduction in intensity of a light by a photo-cell when smoke particles enter the beam. A point type detector operates on the detection of smoke at a particular point using a) an ionization chamber which senses changes caused by combustion gases; b) an optical type using a photocell in a chamber screened from external light; and c), a sampling type which induces samples of air from the protected area through a system of pipes and a detecting device which generally measures light scattered by the smoke particles, but could use an ionization chamber; and d) polymer films where specially designed polymer films are used as part of a charge flow transistor
