Detector, Fire, Radiation,InfraRed : A radiation fire detector which responds to infrared radiation. (BS 4422(4)) There are three types: a) an infrared wide range detector - responds normally to radiation of a section of the infrared spectrum coming within a defined modulation frequency band; b) an infrared spot detector - a detector employing a cell which is sensitive to infrared radiation; c) infrared scanning as a) but uses a rotating scanner to introduce radiation indirectly on to an infrared sensitive cell
