Detector, Fire, Smoke, Ionization Chamber
Detector, Fire, Smoke, Ionization Chamber : A smoke detector which responds when smoke having entered the detector, causes a change in ionization currents within the detector. (BS 4422(4)) The air in the open sensing chamber of the detector is ionized by radiation from a radioactive source so that a small electrical current passes between two electrodes. Smoke entering causes a reduction in the current which operates an electronic relay circuit to give the alarm
