Digital Certificate 1 : (ICT) (IS, ECOM) Digital certificates allow a user to send an encrypted message. A digital certificate is an attachment to an electronic message that verifies the user is who they claim to be, and is used to ensure secure e-business transactions. The Certificate Authority (CA), which issues a user's digital certificate, makes known the user's public key, which another user employs to decode the digital certificate attached to a message. This process also verifies that the certificate was issued by the CA and allows users to obtain identification information of the certificate-holding sender.
