Digital Elevation Model (DEM) 07

Digital Elevation Model (DEM) 07 : Digital Elevation Models describe the amount of digital elevation values from regular or irregular distributed terrain points which represent the elevation structure of objects, e.g. of the continued terrain. Each value exactly represents one elevation value, so that no ambiguity exists. GTOPO30 and SRTM deliver examples for DEM: GTOPO30 is a digital elevation model distributed by the USGS U.S. Geological Survey) with a ground resolution of 30 arc seconds (about 1 km point distance). SRTM means Space Radar Topography Mission and starting from these radar data a DEM can be generated with a ground resolution of 3 arc seconds (about 100 m point distance). (See also: GTOPO30)
