Discharge 01
Discharge 01 : (1) Planned and controlled release of (usually gaseous or liquid) radioactive material to the environment. Strictly, the act or process of releasing the material, but also used to describe the material released. Authorized Discharge: Discharge in accordance with an authorization. Radioactive Discharges: Radioactive substances arising from a source within a practice which are discharged as gases, aerosols, liquids or solids to the environment, generally with the purpose of dilution and dispersion. (2) A planned and controlled release to the environment, as a legitimate practice, within limits authorized by the regulatory body, of liquid or gaseous radioactive materials that originate from regulated nuclear facilities during normal operation
