Discharge Tube
Discharge Tube : A tube of insulating material usually glass, silica or quartz which is provided with electrodes, and which, when exhausted to a sufficiently low gas pressure, permits the passage of a discharge, if a sufficiently high voltage is applied to the electrodes. If the electrodes are heated the voltage required is reduced. Such tubes can be "cold cathode" or "hot cathode" and are used as luminous discharge tubes, fluorescent lamps, etc. (The pouring tube of a high expansion foam generator is also known as a discharge tube
