Distribution 03 : (Chem) The process of dividing and dispersing materials or products. The tendency of a solute to reach an equilibrium concentration between two phases of a mixture of immiscible solvents. (2) (Statist) The array of values taken by a variable for a given population. Note: As an example, a tabulation of test scores ordered from high to low, or low to high, showing the number of individuals who obtained each score or who fall into each score frequency interval. Generally called a frequency distribution. The two most common types are normal(Gaussian), in which the mean, median, and mode coincide, represented by a bell-shaped curve; and the Poisscn, represented by an asymmetric curve. A sufficient number of measurements of a variable, such as the diameters of a production lot of ball bearings, will fall into a normal distribution. The occurrence of accidents is described by the Poisson distribution
