Diversity 3

Diversity 3 : The presence of two or more redundant systems or components to perform an identified function, where the different systems or components have different attributes so as to reduce the possibility of common cause failure, including common mode failure. Examples of such attributes are: different operating conditions, different working principles or different design teams (which provide functional diversity), and different sizes of equipment, different manufacturers, and types of equipment that use different physical methods (which provide physical diversity)
