Fire Compartment 8
Fire Compartment 8 : One room or more in a building, designed to prevent the spread of fire and combustion gases to other fire compartments. Normally rated for the time needed for safe evacuation or due to building codes (normally 15, 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes). A compartment must remain completely closed in the event of a fire to contain it within. All the possible holes due to cables or ducts crossing ceilings and walls should be protected against smoke, the doors joining different fire compartments shall be fire-resistance, and should be closed when a fire alarm is on, whatever the compartment is affected or not by the fire
