Fire Department, Organization of The New York City 2 : Battalions: Special Operations/ Rescue Battalion: The Special Operations Battalion, also known as the Rescue Battalion oversees the operations of all of the FDNY's Special Units, many of which are located at the SOC Division, while others are quartered around Fire Stations throughout the city, such as the Collapse Rescue Units. The Special Operations/ Rescue Battalion also oversees the operations of all of the FDNY's Rescue and Squad Companies
