Fire Propagation 1 : (1) (Comb) The spread of fire through or over a combustible medium. A phenomenon that depends on the ignitability, flame spread, and heat release characteristics of a material. (2) (Fire Pr) The penetration and travel of fire through openings and concealed spaces. Note: Fire propagation carries the sense of fire traveling through a gas or vapor in three-dimensional space; fire spread is more appropriately descriptive of fire travel across surfaces
