Fire Resistance 04

Fire Resistance 04 : Disaster Management. (Build; Fire Pr) The attribute or capacity of a material, structural component, or assembly to withstand fire without losing its fire-separating or load-bearing strength. Fire resistance is usually expressed in terms of a time period, as a 1-hour fire resistant door. Cf: Fireproof; Fire Retardant. Note: As applied to elements of buildings, it characterizes the ability to confine a fire or to continue to perform a given struc?tural function, or both. A wall assembly, for example, has a certain degree of fire resistance if for a specified time and under standard conditions of heat intensity it does not fail structurally and does not permit the side away from the fire to become hotter than a specified temperature
