Fire Safety 05 :

Common Fire Hazards: Improper use and maintenance ofgas stoves often create fire hazards. Some common fire hazards are: (a) Kitchen fires from unattended cooking, such as frying, broiling, and simmering; (b) Electrical systems that are overloaded, resulting in hot wiring or connections, or failed components; (c) Combustible storage areas with insufficient protection; (d) Combustibles near equipment that generates heat, flame, or sparks; (e) Candles and other open flames; (f) Smoking (Cigarettes, cigars, pipes, lighters, etc). ; (g) Equipment that generates heat and utilizes combustible materials; (h) Flammable liquids and aerosols; (j) Flammable solvents (and rags soaked with solvent) placed in enclosed trash cans; (k) Fireplace chimneys not properly or regularly cleaned; (l) Cooking appliances - stoves, ovens; (m) Heating appliances - fireplaces, wood burning stoves, furnaces, boilers, portable heaters; (n) Household appliances - clothes dryers, curling irons, hair dryers, refrigerators, freezers; (o) Chimneys that concentrate creosote; (p) Electrical wiring in poor condition; (q) Batteries; (r) Personal ignition sources - matches, lighters; (s) Electronic and electrical equipment; (t) Exterior cooking equipment - barbecue
