Incident Operating Systems (IOS) : "IOS provide a mechanism of reviewing preparations or execution of incident response in specific categories to ensure a coordinated Federal response to any Incident of National Significance. Critical to this review is the synchronization and coordination activities within each IOS. The Department's seven IOS include: (1) Domestic Counter-Terrorism/Law Enforcement. (2) Border, Maritime and Transportation Security. (3) Critical Infrastructure Protection. (4) Medical/Public Health. (5) Emergency Response and Recovery. (6) Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Detection/Preparedness. (7) Risk Communication and Preparedness". (DHS, 2007)
