Inertial Profilometer : A profilometer which relies on accelerometers (sensors which measure acceleration) to indicate the shape of the profile being surveyed. On modern inertial non-contact profilometers, accelerometers measure the vertical motion of the vehicle, ensuring that the reported road profile (usually measured by laser, optical or ultrasonic sensor) is independent of the vehicle dynamics
