International Court of Justice 2 : The principal judicial organ of the United Nations. Its two functions are to settle legal disputes between States and to give advisory opinions on legal questions submitted by authorized international organizations and agencies, all of them being United Nations agencies. The sources of law used by the Court include international treaties and conventions, international custom, general principles of law and judicial decisions. The Court was established in 1946 as the successor to the Permanent Court of International Justice. It is located at The Hague
