Bourdon Tube 2 : The Bourdon tube is an integral part of the mechanism of a pressure gauge and works on the principle that a bent tube with a closed end will tend to straighten under pressure or increase its curvature under partial vacuum. The tube, which is of phosphor bronze, is curved and flattened in shape, the closed end being connected to the registering mechanism and the open end to the pipe leading to the gauge
