Landfall 5 : When the eye, or physical centre of the hurricane, reaches a coastline it is said to "make landfall." The term "landfall" is generally not used when post-tropical storms move inland because they typically do not have an eyewall and the worst impacts of the storm have already spread out at a distance from the storm centre
