Machiavellianism


Machiavellianism : A tam usually employed pejoratively to criticize cunning or ruthless political behavior. It derives from the name of Florentine diplomat, Niccole Machiavelli (1469-1527), especially the advice he gives to rulers in his infamous tract, Tbe prince, written in 1513 though not published until after his death in 1532. It would be wrong to assume, however, that Machiavelli was Machiavellian
