Maximum Exposure Range 1

Maximum Exposure Range 1 : (a) A semiquantitative term referring to the extreme uppermost portion of the distribution of exposures. For consistency, this term (and the dose or risk analogues) should refer to the portion of the individual exposure distribution that conceptually falls above about the 98th percentile of the distribution, but is not higher than the individual with the highest exposure. [USEPA, 1992: GL for Exposure Assessment]; (b) Estimate of exposure or dose level received by an individual in a defined population that is greater than the 98th percentile dose for all individuals in that population, but less than the exposure level received by the person receiving the highest exposure level. [USEPA, 1997a: EPA Terms of Environment]
