Reflector 6 : Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Disasters. Material layer immediately around the core of a nuclear reactor. The reflector scatters neutrons, which otherwise would escape, back to the core. The reflected neutrons in turn can initiate fissions and therefore improve the neutron balance of the reactor
